The pipe is believed to be from the mid-1800s, because zinc is a material that was first used around 1830. The corrosion has formed due to the humidity and poor storage conditions over a longer period of time, and it damages the metal if it is not removed. After the conservation, the pipe will be placed in a magazine with a controlled humidity.

Jonas works at Ringve from April to October this year, with the conservation of metal instruments.

 


The corrosion is carefully removed from the organ pipe.

Våre musikalske omvisere gir deg en unik musikkopplevelse. Hver søndag kl 13 i perioden 1. juli til 19. august er det konsert i salen. Konserten er inkludert i inngangsbilletten og varer ca en halvtime.

Today they are removing the last parts of asbestos from the old kitchen. Asbestos is found in the joints between the pipes in the ventilation system.  Although there is very little of it, the correct safety equipment is being used in case something unforeseen should happen. If the amount of asbestos had been higher, we would not have been let in to take this picture.
